Summary
My role as a consultant and interim CTO gives me an opportunity to work across a wide range of industries and technologies. I led development teams, manage technology transitions, design products and business strategies, evaluate technologies and service providers, and help define business and technology goals. I work for companies ranging in size from early-stage startups to Fortune 500 or equivalent sized private firms. I balance business needs with technical and business constraints. As necessary I select vendors, hire teams, build sales and fundraising plans. In 2000 I started my former software and consulting firm, JigZaw Inc, in Chicago and raised a $1M round of Angel funding. In 2005 we moved from Chicago to the Bay Area. After working on a few early stage startups, in 2014 I joined Coupons.com (later renamed Quotient Technologies) as a senior project manager. After Quotient, I explored a few startup concepts and resumed my consulting practice. In 2005 I co-organized and founded MeshForum, an early conference on the study of networks. We held a second MeshForum in 2006 in San Francisco and followed that conference with a series of one day MeshWalk events in 2007-2009. These events brought together an interdisciplinary group of experts on networks from academia, industry and the government. We were an early conference to make podcasts of our sessions available freely online. An active networker and event organizer, I have run monthly networking events and conferences and facilitated and organized many Open Space events including BarCamps and Hackathons. In recent years, I have served as a Track Chair of the Entrepreneurship Track for TiECon. As a writer I have contributed to many technology industry sites over the years as well as had an active presence online for decades.
