Summary
Stephanie Garrett-Stearns is Vice President of Communications and Fund Development for The Community Builders, a mission-driven housing organization, where she leads communications and fundraising strategy and program execution. Garrett-Stearns was previously Chief Communications Officer for Boston Mayor Kim Janey, leading a dynamic team of press, digital media, speechwriting, and photography professionals for the city's first woman and first Black mayor. Garrett-Stearns' private sector experience includes serving as Head of Public Relations and Chief Corporate Spokesperson for the Siemens division, Osram Sylvania. Garrett-Stearns holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Washington University in St. Louis and a bachelor’s degree in human resources management from Michigan State University. An alumna of The Partnership, Inc. Next Generation Executive program for professionals of color, she also completed the Business Management Institute at Cornell University. She is a volunteer and board member for several nonprofit organizations, including the Massachusetts Institute for a New Commonwealth (MassINC), the Boston Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. A native of Flint, Michigan, Garrett-Stearns is an active member of Union United Methodist Church in Boston's South End. She lives in the City’s West Roxbury neighborhood with her husband and daughter.
