Stephen Davies

Summary

Currently Stephen is the CEO of three sister organizations, DAVHILL Group, Data Action Lab and Swan Aviation all of which supply management consulting and corporate training services in Data and IT related fields to large public and private organizations. Stephen has over 20 years experience as an executive and senior management consultant. His main areas of specialized knowledge are Data and Digital Strategy, Business Intelligence, Process Mapping, Data Analytics, Data Visualization, Data Analysis and Modeling, and Enterprise Risk Management. He regularly advises on enterprise wide projects of more than $100M. He has extensive experience with large Federal, Provincial/State and Municipal Government organizations as well as dedicating a significant portion of his focus and time in the aviation and military spaces. Based in Canada he regularly consults across the globe. Stephen is familiar with many data management platforms but is currently focusing on MS Fabric and Azure implementations for business intelligence including (but not limited to), Power BI Premium Dataflows, DataMarts, Warehouses, Lakehouses, Power BI Reports, Data Pipeline and Dashboards, use of Microsoft Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) stack, Data Governance through Microsoft Purview and implementation of solutions built in Microsoft Power Apps and Microsoft Power Automate. In addition he is often requested to build Monte Carlo simulations, typically using Oracle Crystal Ball. Stephen has gained a reputation for critiquing and identifying issues with various data visualizations (e.g., dashboards) to enable organizations to make them more effective. He regularly provides training in Data Visualization and Storytelling with Data. He is also regularly asked to advise on business transformation projects (e.g., restructuring) which include Enterprise Risk Management, Process Analysis and Mapping and creation of various strategies, policies and directives. He has a Physics and Engineering background and has previously worked as an engineer and director both semiconductor and telecom manufacturing organizations. Previous employment includes Third Core Venture Expansion Partners (VP Operations), DISTIL Interactive (Co-Founder and VP Business Development), Nortel Networks (Program Director), MITEL Telecom (Director Supply Chain), International Quantum Electronics (Engineering Manager) and FT&R Ltd (IT Manager). Stephen is a past marketing director of the Standards Engineering Society (SES) and Regional Chair or the American Society for Quality (ASQ).
