Steve Jang is a venture capital investor and former technology entrepreneur. Based in San Francisco, Steve serves as founder and a managing partner of Kindred Ventures. In 2023 and 2024, Forbes’ Midas List named Steve as one of the world’s 50 top venture capital investors. As a generalist early stage venture fund, Kindred's mission is to invest in brilliant and dedicated founders at the earliest stages of building their startups. Over the past 14 years, Steve has backed over 100 companies across different theme areas such as AI, marketplaces, mobility, crypto, and deep tech, and including Uber, Coinbase, Perplexity, Postmates, Fal, Tonal, Color Health, DYDX, Zora, Whisper Aero, and Northflank. Since 2009 and up until IPO, Steve has also served as an Advisor to Uber since the founding of the company, up through initial product launch, global expansion, and then IPO. Most recently as an entrepreneur, Steve served as Co-Founder at Future Primitive (a crypto startup studio), Bitski (acquired by Phantom), and Co-Founder/CEO of SoundTracking (Acquired by Napster-Rhapsody). Prior to these startups, in 2005, he was the co-creator and founding team member of the world's first and largest on-demand music streaming service which reached over 100 million monthly unique users before its eventual acquisition by MySpace.
