Summary
Product manager at NVIDIA leveraging over 30 years of experience designing, developing, testing, shipping, and supporting successful, profitable, and usable shrink-wrapped computer hardware, software, consumer electronics and software development tools. Started out writing Macintosh firmware and system software at Radius, then joined Palm Computing in 1996 and spent the next eleven years working on Palm OS, while being absorbed into U.S. Robotics, acquired by 3Com, spun out into Palm Inc., separated into PalmSource Inc., and finally acquired by Access. Returned to Palm in 2007 to build webOS software and developer tools. Palm was then acquired by HP in 2010, and in 2013 after we open-sourced HP's webOS, our team was acquired by LG to launch LG's Silicon Valley Lab (SVL). The webOS SmartTV platform powers more than 200 million LG TVs worldwide, and was also released as webos Open Source Edition in 2018. Brought webOS technologies to new advanced automotive infotainment platforms (AGL). Handled evangelism, strategy, and university and partner engagement for LG's open source (SVL) autonomous vehicle driving simulator. Specified, acquired, and managed AV test and data collection vehicle (Lincoln MKZ). Became licensed autonomous safety driver in California. Received the only 25 years of service award ever given for Palm/HP/LG, then transitioned to product management for NVIDIA DRIVE Sim. Awarded 42 (granted) patents to date for many concepts and inventions at Palm, PalmSource, Access, and HP, many of which have since been licensed to other companies including Apple, Google, and Qualcomm. Specialties: Identifying and debugging system integration issues and customer/user usability concerns. Assembling cross-functional teams for rapid development of technology proof-of-concept demonstrations. Communicating with partners and customers via conference presentations and trade show demonstrations. Early years in computer retail and software QA instilled a strong desire to always deliver an outstanding user experience for end-users and software developers alike, and to harvest their feedback to further refine and improve each subsequent product release. Frequent beta tester providing reproducible bug reports and product improvement feedback. Created some of the first large successful online communities enabling Nissan LEAF and Tesla Model 3/Y owners to learn about more about driving and charging their new electric vehicles and share their enthusiasm without the noise and downsides of many other communities.
