I am working on my seventh book, have developed various industrial control systems, and occasionally pursue spin-offs from the technomadic projects that have defined most of my life. The goal, I suppose, is to continue basing my life on passion and curiosity... surviving on the almost automatic fallout from that process ranging from nickel-generators various to product development, publishing, and consulting. Specialties: I've been building geeky conveyances for 35 years, traveling on them, then writing and speaking about the experience. This involves sponsor relationships, a diverse team of volunteers, and applied generalism... and my latest book ("Reaching Escape Velocity") explores techniques for getting a gonzo engineering project off the ground with minimal funding, leveraging geek passions to redirect other forces into a coherent effort. My current business is Harbor Digitizing, a media "time machine" built into a 48-foot mobile laboratory. We deal with old film, most flavors of video and audio, slides/negs, along with various kinds of archiving and editing services.
