Summary
I counsel clients on patent matters for a wide range of technologies, including electronics, software, and all things computer related (see below). My extensive and diverse experience enables me to look at client’s patent-related problems from all sides and provide (as best I can) comprehensive and effective solutions in both prosecution, licensing and negotiation, and litigation. I occupy a rare intersection of the patent world. I practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office for patent and trademark matters and I work with patent agents to obtain related protection in other countries. I also have experience with litigation before US District Courts in all phases of IP litigation, including investigation, discovery, trial, and settlement. Being able to understand both the prosecution world and the litigation world allows me to suggest better options for clients and to have a better idea of the (very uncertain) likelihood of success. I also advise on other matters besides patents. This includes trademarks, copyright, trade secrets, privacy, and the growing field of internet law, and of course, IP issues relating to artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. As President of Los Altos Law, I attempt to provide value for our clients’ technology development. We make it a point to be easily pluggable into existing company structure so we can do our best at creating valuable IP portfolios and provide a positive ROI for the legal budget. We like to think of ourselves as an investment, not a cost. We attempt to make our client's business needs the main driver to the legal advice and services we provide. Some of the many, many technologies I have had the privilege to work on include: AI and machine learning Fintech Blockchain Medical devices AR and VR Lasers Amplifiers Electronic circuits Computational chemistry Control systems Cryptography (Of course, there are many more which I do not remember or which I am not really supposed to tell you about.) Please note: Yes, we are lawyers, but we are not YOUR lawyers (even if we might hope to be), and this LinkedIn description is NOT legal advice. Do NOT send us any confidential information.
