Summary
I’m happily retired from a career in recruitment advertising, marketing, and HR/staffing business software. Retirement for me is more like “graduation” so I can write the next chapter of my life. I am a writer at heart, and open to ghostwriting and editing projects – and help people who don’t have time to write. I have an extensive background & experience in advertising, marketing, technical writing, and sales - mostly in the recruitment/staffing and software industry. In my previous lives, I owned & operated a small marketing business when I lived in Arizona, and hosted an an AirBnB apartment in Hawaii that catered to inter-island business travelers. WHY I’M ON LINKEDIN®: Business and personal networking, staying in touch with people, and exploring strange new worlds in writing. WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR: Grow my network in creative writing field and the film industry, opportunity to learn and elevate my skills, and help others in any way I can. WHAT I DO: • Ghostwriter – Will write for food, preferably lobster. • Speaker/Consultant/Podcaster – Human Resources Technology, DEIB, Women in STEM, Workforce Development. I’ve hosted a series of video conversations on Smart Inclusion where we discuss best practices in Diversity recruiting and how to build a more Equitable workplace. I’ve also spoken on Workforce Development topics in my work with SHRM, and I’m especially interested in speaking with High School and College students on a range of employment-related topics. PROFESSIONAL AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: I’m a long-time advocate for Women in STEM, and I have been an active member of many professional organizations throughout my career including leadership roles in SHRM, the American Staffing Association, Social Media Club Hawaii, and the Hilo Woman's Club. I support the Hawaii Concert Society, UH-Hilo Performing Arts Center, the historic Palace Theater, and Project Hawaii, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of homeless children. I'm currently an active member of the Hilo Woman's Club, volunteer with NexTech Hawaii to help build a STEM Future for Hawaiʻi Youth, and project work with the League of Women Voters VOTE411.org, a non-partisan online voters guide. My personal interests include movies and independent film, theater and the arts, especially music. I have a lifelong interest in astronomy and space science; I’m a charter member of the Planetary Society. I enjoy gardening, swimming and hiking, have a black belt in shopping… and I'm the Queen of Halloween.
