Skills
Summary
I excel at identifying and creating new product categories and driving demand through unexpected channels and methods. I specialize in growing consumer products businesses, from tiny budgets and sales to multi-million dollar budgets and a more than 7x increase in revenue. Along the way, I have developed guerrilla tactics and techniques that get far more bang for the marketing buck than most and have propelled products to the top of their categories. I hired close to 20 team members during my time at Hyland's, also bringing on board major agency, partnership, and channel relationships. I transformed a small, sleepy family-owned business into a category leader, with major nationwide distribution, despite budgets that were a quarter the size of my main competitors'. I led New Product Segmentation and Development, which drove significant revenues from year to year, and spearheaded and implemented a value-based pricing initiative that added millions to the bottom line. Consumer segments where we were particularly successful included: moms of babies and kids, boomers and seniors, and masters athletes. Prior to working on consumer products/OTC drugs, I spearheaded new market segment development at a major industrial products manufacturer. And I was a business strategy consultant, where I helped major multinational companies increase their ROI by shrinking working capital and accelerating cash flow. While I have all the heavy quant skills (analyzing TB-size databases, mining Nielsen and IRI data) and nifty business credentials (Stanford MBA, finalist for Content Marketer of the Year Award), I also have significant social interests: I am a former Peace Corps agriculture volunteer in Mali and helped establish Challenging Racism through Stories and Conversations in Arlington, Virginia.
