Summary
Full-time computer professional since 1980. My primary work has been as a custom applications consultant - on the end-user side of things. Worked as an applications consultant for Control Data Business Information Services from 1980-1985. Started my own custom database development business based on FileMaker Pro in 1986. Graduated with an MBA from UC Berkeley with emphasis in Marketing and secondary emphasis in Information Systems in 1987. Also, in 1987 narrowed my target market to creative services businesses. Primary expertise is in Macintosh-based systems, but FileMaker Pro is cross-platform so the applications we develop run on Mac and Windows quite seamlessly. Developed our FileMaker-based software product for creative services businesses, Studio Manager, in 1993. Studio Manager rated highest in its category (integrated business software) in the May 2003 issue of *Creative Business*. Strong emphasis in my work on user interface, usability, collaboration and decision support reflects my educational background including B.S. in Psychology, Portland State U and M.A. in Qualitative Urban Sociology (meaning-making and action in human social life) at UCSF. Specialties: Collaborative, iterative development using FileMaker Pro. End-user and work-group business applications based on relational databases. Software architecture and design. Managing software development projects. eMarketing. Blogging. Social Networking. Tech-driven social trends. Personal technology.
