Summary
I am a one of the lead software designers of two of the largest and longest-running Electronic Health Record systems: the VA's VistA system and DoD's $1.6 b Composite Health Care System (CHCS). I have worked as a federal government employee (VA), a contractor (SAIC), and Independent Consultant (Munnecke Enterprises, Inc.) I am currently active as a consultant for senior management, board member/investor in a number of startups, and am frequently interviewed in the press regarding health IT. I have testified before the Senate Veterans Affairs committee on the future of health IT, given keynote addresses around the world, and consulted on large-scale health IT systems in France, Spain, Switzerland, and UK. I have uniquely deep experience in understanding scale in health IT, having particpated/observed both the VA and the DoD heatlh care systems for 4 decades. In addition to my commercial work, I'm also active in philanthropic and humanitarian applications of technology. I am currently a volunteer for NASA/JPL for science outreach, and was a Visiting Fellow at Stanford's Digital Visions Program.
