Summary
After a career spanning three decades in technology, online services including virtual communities, communities of practice and collaborative knowledge systems—including leadership roles at Apple, Fujitsu and Stanford Medicine—I am now guiding the National Institute for Play (NIFPlay), a nonprofit public benefit organization dedicated to promoting science’s findings that play is a vital force in human development, well-being, and public health. As Executive Director of NIFPlay, I work with a small, dedicated team to grow our base of followers, maintain a leading play knowledge website, publish both in-depth reports and ongoing commentary on the science and practice of play, and collaborate with corporations seeking greater innovation through play. Together, we are pursuing initiatives to scale our impact—especially through partnerships with visionary philanthropists, educators, and health leaders. Backed by decades of marketing, and general management experience, I’m now focused on growing awareness of the benefits that science has shown come from play—making the case that play is not optional, but essential to thriving lives and thriving societies. I’m always open to conversations with those who see play as a lever for generational change. Let’s connect.
