Tunde Onitiri is a seasoned global executive known for his extensive expertise in project finance, and direct investments across diverse sectors including infrastructure, climate, and forestry in a range of geographies from Africa to Asia-Pacific, the Americas, and Europe. Since 2017, he has served as a Washington-based senior advisor, offering strategic counsel to project developers, private equity fund managers, and governments on investments in climate and infrastructure sectors within emerging markets. From 2021 to 2022, Tunde held the role of Special Advisor on Climate Investments to the CEO of the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority, where he spearheaded the development of NSIA’s ESG Strategy and fostered crucial partnerships with global investors in the climate finance sector. Notably, he structured a groundbreaking joint venture with Vitol S.A., aimed at investing in decarbonization projects in Nigeria. Prior to this, Tunde held various senior positions at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) including Senior Manager in IFC’s Venture Investments Group in Washington, DC, and Senior Country Head roles for Singapore and Malaysia, as well as Mozambique and Angola. During his tenure at the IFC, he oversaw substantial investments totaling over $500 million in the East Asia/Pacific region and played a pivotal role in establishing and expanding IFC’s presence in Mozambique and Angola. Before joining IFC, Tunde held key roles at Emerging Markets Partnership and InterGen, where he structured and executed private equity and infrastructure investments across Latin America, Africa and southern Europe.
