Summary

I love working in the creative design and application of technology to solve problems. I also excel at presenting complex concepts visually and verbally. I have co-founded 3 startups since I graduated from college. Both startups have created technologies and products that have had very widespread impact. I co-founded my first startup, LynuxWorks, right out of college. For the next 17 years, I had roles in engineering, marketing, sales, and virtually every other function you can do at a startup. LynuxWorks grew over the years and the software it created was used in everything from the camera that follows players around at sporting events, to nuclear missile launch systems. As a result of the very broad use of embedded operating systems, I became involved involved in many diverse fields like aerospace, medical imaging, factory automation, and even robotics. In 2003, I left LynuxWorks to co-found another startup with friends. This one had to do with simulation-driven visual effects for games and movies. The company was called Pixelux Entertainment. Our first break came in 2005 when we signed an exclusive agreement with LucasArts to develop a new kind of destruction technology that they wanted to use in their games. The technology was called "Digital Molecular Matter" (DMM) and it was many years ahead of its time. DMM technology is in widespread use today in film production and gaming and won a Scientific and Technical Oscar last year. I continue to be involved in charting new directions for the technology. please see my publications area for a great article in FXGuide on Pixelux and DMM. In 2010, Pixelux became involved with a new startup called Efexio whose goal was to make a system of stock 3D CGI Effects. I was involved in the design of the application, the licensing of the content as well as production of commercials and custom effects. I worked with Tippet Studio to bring their amazing 3D CGI Dinosaurs into the Efexio catalog. In 2016, I co-founded Modrokkr with my friend Mitchell Bunnell. HTC invested in our seed round and our system is now active. Modrokkr is a Software-as-a-Service company built with a unique kind of geometry streaming technology that allows visually sophisticated AR/VR and other 3D content to be streamed using an ordinary web browser with very low bandwidth 1-4 mbps) Our system allows immersive environments to be built and shared easily.
