Summary
I've been involved in high-tech companies from just about every angle, including starting my own company and taking it to acquisition, doing a turnaround at a second-stage start-up, MTS at a computer research lab, and senior positions at large companies. My passion is creating new and innovative products, including brainstorming, market research, architecture, design, specification, rapid prototyping, development, testing, deployment, evangelism, and professional services. I also have management experience at larger companies, and taught courses at the graduate level. I am the author of two successful computer books, numerous papers for journals (including IEEE Computer Magazine and ACM), papers at conferences (including SIGGRAPH) and chapters in books. I hold a PhD in Computer Science, as well as degrees in Fine Arts and Electrical Engineering. I love a good challenge. The best jobs let me use my technical, marketing, and creative skills, and require me to learn new skills. My value is in taking ideas, working with customers, and designing and implementing creative solutions. In general, I care more about the people I work with than the particular job I'm doing, but my favorite projects are the most challenging ones (especially projects that some people consider impossible).
