Summary

OVERVIEW: My current role is with the University of Texas as a Senior Systems Administrator, where my focus is managing enterprise infrastructure monitoring services, primarily using Zenoss Cloud and Cisco Thousand Eyes. I have more than 30 years of experience in overlapping IT and creative roles, with special emphasis in copywriting, creative direction, and enterprise IT. This began when I supported myself through a design and photography BA as a sys admin for my university during the great pivot from VMS to UNIX and gopher to HTML. I am potentially interested in small creative side projects to keep my design and writing skills sharp (especially for good causes) but I like my job and plan to remain in public service with the University of Texas. TECH: I've been working in IT since high school, from pulling cable for network cable runs, to Unix-centric Senior Dev Ops/Sys Admin work in startups and the public sector in multiple countries. Additionally, I managed the creative team of a boutique agency that gained international prominence and recognition for its work. ★ Strategic Marketing – I have a highly diversified portfolio of successful brand identities and compelling messages for clients as disperate as state theatres, video games, recording artists, political candidates, casinos, novelists, fintech, and adtech. ★ Communications – I have extensive experience in writing press releases, speeches, web and traditional content, ad copy, and documents for various NGOs. In addition, I have published economic and political news with an emphasis on Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and India for the interantional diamond industry. ★ Social Media & Online Marketing – I have levreged my backgrounds in visual design, writing, and technology to create successful viral campaigns on Facebook for multiple ad agencies in Europe and Israel. CREATIVE: I have also found minor personal success in songwriting, music, fiction, poetry, voice-acting and visual design.
